Apple Reportedly Developing a New Gaming Hub for iOS
With iOS 18 still evolving, Apple is already looking toward future advancements in its software lineup. According to recent rumors, the tech giant may be developing a dedicated gaming hub for iOS.
The first reports of these plans came from 9to5Mac, where sources revealed that Apple might be merging features from both the App Store and Game Center into a new, standalone app. This rumored gaming hub could bring a unique space for gamers within the iOS ecosystem.
Currently, Apple offers Apple Arcade, a subscription service with a broad selection of games accessible on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV. However, this new gaming hub isn’t expected to replace Game Center.
Instead, it would feature multiple tabs, including a main “Play Now” tab where users could explore game recommendations, editorial content, and features like challenges, leaderboards, and achievements.
The iOS gaming hub could function similarly to the Xbox app on iPhone, providing users with a quick look at player status, friends’ activities, and options to search for new games or review their game library, no matter the size.
As for timing, Apple may introduce this gaming hub in a future iOS 18 update, but only time will confirm these plans.
